Umhlonyane

Image
Umhlonyane   is a traditional ceremony done by the Zulu people for girls when the girl reaches the womanhood stage, (depending on what age they reach it). The head (normally a father) of the family slaughters a goat for this ceremony.  A week before the ceremony, the girl is kept in a separate room away from other people, where she will stay inside and comes out on the day of the ceremony. The girl appies red soil on her face (ibomvu ).By the time she is in that room the elder women visit the girl to give advice and guidance on how to behave as a teenager ( itshitshi   – Zulu maiden). Before the day of a ceremony, the girl’s friends (same age) come to stay with her until the next day. All the girls apply ‘white soil’ all over their bodies. In the morning they go to the river to wash their bodies. On their way back to the homestead they sing traditional songs that are relevant with the ceremony. They dress in traditional Zulu clothes for girls ( izigege ) and beads....

Crypto eradicating traditional currency

Image
What is crypto currency? What is cryptocurrency?  A cryptocurrency is a digital currency, which is an alternative form of payment created using encryption algorithms. The use of encryption technologies means that cryptocurrencies function both as a currency and as a virtual accounting system. To use cryptocurrencies, you need a cryptocurrency wallet.  Crypto's disadvantages  Crypto assets are alternatives to traditional banking that require no intermediary. They are not under the control of a centralized authority like a bank, government, or agency. In fact, the coin’s trust is in the blockchain code and its distributed nature.  Much like cash, it’s no surprise that some (cyber) criminals use cryptocurrency. Interestingly enough, with the growth of legitimate cryptocurrency usage far outpacing the growth of criminal usage, illicit activity’s share of cryptocurrency transaction volume is very low, as transactions involving illicit addresses represented just 0.1...

Witchcraft

Image
Witchcraft traditionally means the use of magic or supernatural powers to harm others.[1][2] A practitioner is a witch. In medieval and early modern Europe, where the term originated, accused witches were usually women who were believed to have used malevolent magic against their own community, and often to have communed with evil.  It was thought witchcraft could be thwarted by protective magic or counter-magic, which could be provided by cunning folk or folk healers. Suspected witches were also intimidated, banished, attacked or killed. Often they would be formally prosecuted and punished, if found guilty or simply believed to be guilty. European witch-hunts and witch trials in the early modern period led to tens of thousands of executions. In some regions, many of those accused of witchcraft were folk healers or midwives.[3][4] European belief in witchcraft gradually dwindled during and after the Age of Enlightenment.
